Summer Evening 1 is part of my Into the Wild collection, which draws inspiration from seasonal walks through the wild corners of Sussex and the South Downs. I’m especially drawn to the hidden places—where plants grow freely, intertwined and untamed. Later in the year, I often forage for dry grasses and seedheads, using them to inspire both my embroidery designs and to create one-of-a-kind monoprints within the artwork.

This piece captures the warm, fading light and rich botanical forms of a summer’s evening—those quiet moments when the landscape glows with soft golden tones and shadowy depth.

Created on cotton canvas using layers of textile paints and spray paints, the artwork incorporates real botanicals and handmade stencils to build organic texture and form. Intricate details are added with appliqué, free-motion embroidery, and hand stitching, offering a delicate, tactile quality to the surface.

The finished painting is float mounted onto the board showing the raw edge of the fabric. It is presented in a bespoke white wood frame, ready to hang.
