Free Spirit is part of my Into the Wild collection, inspired by seasonal walks through Sussex and the South Downs. I’m drawn to the darker, hidden corners of nature—where wild plants grow side by side, twisting and entwining in quiet harmony. Later in the year, I forage dry grasses and seedheads, using them both to inspire my embroidery and to create unique, one-off monoprints within the artwork.

This original mixed media painting is created on 100% artist linen using high-quality textile paints. Real plants collected on my walks are used in the monoprinting process, layering organic shapes and marks directly from nature. The painting is then brought to life with expressive free-motion embroidery and delicate hand stitching, adding rich texture and depth.

The artwork is stretched as a canvas and set within a natural wood tray frame, ready to hang.
